gas mask
Trust a song like Gas Mask to give me the oxygen of publicity. I thought I'd explain just in case there are any fools on the horizon:

Gas Mask is set during the Blitz. The lights are out, there's no running water, and it's about that moment when we almost wish our oppressors would win, just to get the oppression over with.

It's an MP3. Designed to go from my workstation to your MP3 player without the need to unnecessarily be concerned by a 'general public'. Without triangularisation.

It is meant to be eavesdropped into Big Brother-style, rather than sung along to and empathised with. It is narrowcasting as opposed to broadcasting.

I do not imagine it will offend or trouble anyone except the humourless. Therefore possibly old-style record companies. Politically it's an intentional conundrum. Although there are explicit Germanic references, a right-wing nationalist would abhor the song. Particularly as the singer is exposed and ridiculed at the end.

Personally I love the UK and the freedom of speech and thought that OK's a song like Gas Mask. Ultimately it's a test of and a testiment to that. If you're at all interested, I dress to the left in the pollbooth. And I have a sense of humour. And you should too. And you didn't really need me to explain anything did you?
